Hardcover. Group of 5 volumes (out of 9). 8vo. Color cloth spine (in order: blue, grey, red, green, brown) and pictorial paper over boards. 86pp, 86pp, 86pp, 86pp, 84pp. Extensive line drawings. Good plus to very good overall. All volumes are tight and clean, showing only mild edgewear, though "Never Say Die!" shows heavy edgewear and scuffing to front board; first volume bears couple of crayon-colored panels, third volume has been "colorized" on title page and a few panels, fourth volume same to title page and several panels. A charming grouping of five volumes in the "Little Orphan Annie Series" -- numbers 2, 3, 5, 6 and 9. This cartoon character debuted in the "New York Daily News" in 1924, becoming popular so quickly that after only a couple of years these hardbound volumes began to appear. Cupples and Leon do NOT indicate edition in any consistent, verifiable manner. Rather uncommon, and a full set downright scarce -- so here's more than half a set.
