190pp, bw photos and tables. 22x15, blue cloth, illustrated dw. Very good in very slightly sunned dw. A book critical of Government housing policy was not unusual in the late 1970s - what was surprising that the author was a leading Conservative member of the GLC (he also wrote a number of biographies, from David Bowie to Colonel Gaddafi). This is a thoughtful contribution to evolving housing policy for inner cities; a key aspect was the role of council house sales should play in ensuring a mixed community in inner cities, rather than encouraging a flight of the better off to the suburbs.(Fans of political invective will enjoy the acknowledgement to Tremlett's assistant of four years, Terry Dicks, who went on to have a lively career as an MP - Dicks was famously described as "living proof that a pig's bladder on a stick can get elected to Parliament".
