Handwritten title on the spine. Now faded. Size: 33 x 22 centimetres. Vignettes and drop caps, throughout the books. Nicely executed in artful style. Book 1: Title page repaired along the margin. No text loss. Not recently done. A qualified guess probably done 18th or 19th century. Two small signatures. One dated 1714. Three small worm holes. Hardly noticeable. (20) 245 (9) pages. Some small notes at a few places in the margins. Delicate handwriting. Book 2: (14) 299 (7) pages. Between pages 292 /293 remains of a dried flower. Can be removed. Haven't affected the readability. Book 3: (10) 234 (6) pages. Between pages 192 / 193 remains of a dried flower. (The flower is in very good state). Haven't affected the readability. Book 4: (6) 133 (7) pages. Book 5: (14) 206 (38) pages. Book 6: (4) 54 (4) pages. Signature, in pencil, verso front board. Some notes on the rear paste down. Beautiful handwriting. Rather old. Rear hinge lose at the lower part. One bind gone at that side. Spine slightly bumped at the lower part. Considering age, useage etcetera a really nice copy in fine condition. About this Item: Typis Wolffgangi Meisneri, Impensis Clementis Bergeri, & Zachariae Schureri, Bibliopolarum MDCXV [1615], Witebergae, 1615. Edition Nova, emaculata. 4to. Bound in period vellum, split along front joint and showing considerable scuffing and edgewear. Contents are clean and binding remains sound, text block shows some occasional foxing, minor biopredation, and a trace of moisture soiling to corner (most significantly to first several pages). Quibus et Loci Communes D. Phil. Melanchthonis Perspicue Explicantur, & Quasi Integrum Christianae Doctrinae Corpus, Ecclesiae Dei syncere Proponitur. Martin Chemnitz (1522-1586) was a prolific and influential German Luteran theologian, known as the "Second Martin". Loci Theologici is a commentary on Melanchthon's "Loci Communes", and is edited by Polycarp Leyser.
