Super octavo softcover (VG); all our specials have minimal description to keep listing them viable. They are at least reading copies, complete and in reasonable condition, but usually secondhand; frequently they are superior examples. Ordering more than one book will reduce your overall postage costs.

Hardcover. Condition: Very good. Dust Jacket Condition: good. First Edition. 600p octavo. illustrated. A very good copy in a good dust jacket chipped at the spine heads. Inscribed by the author to Dorothy West "For Dorothy West -To whom the Lonely Hunter will have special meaning because you know her works so well and empathize too, with the woman and the artist Virginia Spencer Carr". I cannot discern if this is the Harlem Renaissance writer.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First edition. Illustrated with black and white photographs. A modestly worn very good copy in a spine-chipped near very good dust jacket. Inscribed by Carr to one of the longest surviving author's of the Harlem Renaissance: "For Dorothy West - To whom *The Lonely Hunter* will have special meaning because you know her works so well and empathize, too, with the women and the artist. With warm regards - Virginia Spencer Carr." Dorothy West wrote her first book, *The Living Is Easy* (1948) and was the last surviving writer of consequence that came out of the Harlem Renaissance. She was rediscovered when her second novel, *The Wedding* was published in 1995 to much acclaim. An interesting association.
