Barbier II, 1343. - Sehr seltene zweite vermehrte französische Ausgabe der ersten Vampirerzählung der Weltliteratur, die erstmals der englische Autor John William Polidori (1795-1821) 1816 unter dem Titel The Vampyre verfasste. Er begründete mit der Figur des Lord Ruthven den Typus des modernen Vampirs, der das Genre bis heute prägt. - Cette réécriture, due à Cyprien Bérard, fut publiée par Charles Nodier qui rédigea pour l édition un avant-propos intitulé: Observations préliminaires , qu il placa en tête du premier volume. Il y signale la popularité qu avait conquise le vampire à la fin du XVIIIe siècle. La France manquait donc d une production littéraire sur les vampires!
