First printing. gilt lettering on purple covers. 5-1/2" x 7-1/2", 150pp. This is the original copy submitted to the 1988 AAUP book show competition. Included with the book is the filled-out entry form and a slip listing it as excellent in design concept and overall appearance. It was graded Good in the typesetting, printing, binding and jacket/cover categories. Some of the translator's introduction pages are not present and one of the illustrations is loose [possibly used for the judges evaluation]. The Purple cloth front board has a coffee cup like stain. The lower ends of the covers are lightly stained. There is no staining or markings on the text or illustrations.
