Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1742. Manuscript on paper, in German. 75pp., 8vo (178 x 128 mm). Illustrated title with decorated floreate border and arms. Engraved frontispiece depicting the Trinity enthroned over Calvary. Written in black ink in a uniform calligraphic hand, between borders, some chapter tailpieces and paragraph marks. Contemporary paneled calf, tooled in gilt, initials ìC. B.î and date ì1742î stamped in gilt to front cover, marbled paper pastedowns, gilt edges. Housed in near contemporary custom leather slipcase (contemporary inscription on front free endpaper, light dampstains, some dustsoiling; calf rubbed, tail chipped with some loss). A complete prayer book from 1742, apparently in circulation within German cults of Marian worship. The Litany is Virgin-centric including praising her as ìgates of the skyî and ìmorning star,î also îQueen of Martyrsî and ìMother of the Creatorî; Bitt fur uns! (pray of favor for us!).
