Semelaigne I, pp. 68-73.

Semelaigne I, pp. 68-73. Waller cites only the German translation of 1770. Wellcome III 547. Blake 277. Original edition of this forerunner of psychiatry. For Lorry, the melancholy do not all have a fixed and unique idea, and melancholy is a state of mental disorder of physical origin, where the mind, deeply troubled by objects either external or forged by the imagination, becomes incapable of resisting the ideas which derive from it, of repelling them, of reasoning them. He recognizes two species, according to the origin in solids or moods, and he denotes the first nervous melancholy, the second humoral melancholy. Nervous melancholy can sometimes be hysteria in women, hypochondria in men; or it is the true mania, or else, without the slightest manic symptom, it consists only in convulsions. There seems to be little difference between melancholy and mania, but the melancholy delirium, especially concerning that which concerns it in particular, while the delusional mania extends to all subjects. See Semelaigne. Lorry [1726-1783] can be considered the founder of dermatology in France [Morbis Cutaneis Tractatus, Paris, G. Deux volumes in-8 de xvj-399-[1] pp.; viij-429-[1] pp. Ex-libris au tampon sur le faux-titre de l'aliéniste Jules Falret. Wellcome, III 547.- Blake 277.- Garrison & Morton, 4920.
