In original, bright gilt lettering on the front board, with very slight water stain to the outer board's spine area, barel nonticeable. Additional Hebrew title page: Hebrew and English text. Black and white photographs. Contemporary gilt-stamped boards. A report on the Jewish agricultural settlements in New Jersey founded by Russian Jews. Moses Klein (died 1910), a native of Hungary, was a scholar and linguist. He served as head of Dorhei Sephath Ever, Philadelphia's first Hebrew-speaking club. 88, [35] pages. Moses Klein was a Philadelphia journalist and a strong advocate of agriculture as a livelihood for the recently-arrived Jews. The book is devoted to the agrarian Jewish colonies in Southern New Jersey, particularly Alliance in Salem County and Rosenhayn and Carmel in Cumberland County. Each is examined, and some statistics are presented. Excellent photographs, of houses, schools, and farms etc. OCLC: Pub. by the author.
