It is without the comments by Clark on individual pictures which enlivened the pre-war volume, but the fact that the National Gallery went ahead with the publication of the present volume in the gravely inconvenient wartime conditions of 1941 is testimony to the educated British public?s continuing interest in the great art of the past. Folio. xi + (1) pp, 100pp of photo ills. Publisher?s cloth.
