Born in Grand Rapids, MI in 1873, Stewart Edward White was a writer who wrote fiction and non-fiction about adventure and travel, with an emphasis on natural history and outdoor living, as wells as travels in California. White died in Hillsborough, CA in 1946. This is a classic work on all aspects of the mountains of California.
