Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Norman Rockwell (illustrator). 1st Edition. Norman Rockwell 332 Magazine Covers; by Christopher Finch; Abbeville Press/Random House publishers; New York, 1979. Norman Percevel Rockwell (1894 1978) was an American author, painter and illustrator. His works have a broad popular appeal in the United States for their reflection of American culture. Rockwell is most famous for the cover illustrations of everyday life he created for The Saturday Evening Post magazine over nearly five decades. Among the best-known of Rockwell's works are the Willie Gillis series, Rosie the Riveter, The Problem We All Live With, Saying Grace, and the Four Freedoms series. Rockwell's Breaking Home Ties sold for $15.4 million at a 2006 Sotheby's auction. The 2013 sale of Saying Grace for $46 million (including buyer's premium) established a new record price for Rockwell. This monumental work was published the year after the illustrator s death and this is THE BOOK covering Rockwell and the covers he did for the Saturday Evening Post. The quality of the reproductions is extremely high as one would expect from Abbeville Press. This folio sized book, 455 heavy stock pages measuring 15 X 113/4 weighs 10 pounds! The book is bound in green cloth with a Rockwell drawing embossed on the cover in black. The book is in fine condition in a very good dust jacket, that is lightly sunned on the spine with a bit of scuffing at the top and bottom of the spine. The dust jacket is now in a protective mylar wrap. The book not only contains full sized color illustrations but also explanatory comments of the illustrations. A book that you won t want to put down but you might have to! This very large and very heavy book will require additional postage.
