Le Shelton tait le premier gratte-ciel r sidentiel de Manhattan, et ses hauteurs vertigineuses ont inspir Georgia O'Keeffe une puissante s rie d'environ vingt-cinq peintures et de nombreux dessins sur une p riode d'environ cinq ans. Elle les appelait "mes New York" et ils consistaient essentiellement en deux types de compositions : des observations tentaculaires avec une vue plongeante sur la ville et des vues humbles dirig es vers les monolithes urbains nouvellement construits.
