Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. A near fine copy, in a near fine dust jacket, of the first US edition. The pale green cloth binding is bright and clean, with strong gilt spine lettering, and tight, square corners. The binding is solid with no weakness or cracking to the hinges. Just some faint spotting to the top edges. The contents are clean and tight, with no ownership or any other kinds of markings. The illustrated dust jacket is unclipped ($14.95) and shows almost no edgewear. There are a couple of spots on the front board where the jacket lamination has bubbled slightly. Slight darkening to the front and rear faces. All is now protected in a removable mylar cover. From the blurb: "When it was published in 1974, 'The Pact' caused a sensation in Denmark. Many readers welcomed the opportunity to see the veil of Dinesen's mysterious public persona lifted, to enter the sanctuary of her world. Others were outraged by what they considered a betrayal of the confidence that the older writer had placed in her young protégé".
