Her origin was at first simply a puzzle, then a scientific enigma, and finally a series of terrifying surmises that her most fascinated investigator was afraid to probe. But probe he must, for somehow he know (sic) that this strange girl was a key to the kind of information science had sought for centuries. But the more he uncovered from the depths of her mind, the deeper became the quicksand into which his own was sinking.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Publisher's original "$4.50" price on its jacket's un-clipped front flap, no statement of edition or printing on its copyright page, and printing code "J11" (March 1968) on page 240, so this is an early re-print of the original Doubleday edition. This book is in near fine condition, marred only by a bump on its spine's top back corner. Its binding is sound and square, with no spine crease. Covers are unmarked and otherwise unworn, with bright silver titles on its spine. Pages are unmarked and unworn. Its dust jacket, now protected by a removable mylar cover, is in very good condition: whole and bright, with some light soiling on its spine but otherwise unmarked, and with faint sun-darkening along its top edge, plus bumps with shallow creases on its top edge. I will ship this book in a moisture proof zip-loc bag, padded in bubble wrap, inside a sturdy box to assure it reaches its new owner in the same condition as my description.
