Hardcover. Condition: Fair. 169p. Translated from the French by the Lady Blanche Murphy. Blue pebbled boards with gilt and black decoration, with a clear plastic jacket. This jacket has several large chips and some tears in the folds. The boards have heavy damage to the edges and the cloth is chipped and flaking off, especially at the corners and the spine. The entire top inch of the cloth backstrip is missing and there are innumerable small flakes and chips along the spine and edges. However, the color is still quite bright, thanks to the jacket. A piece of paper with an inscription dated 1898 is pasted to the front endpaper. Interior has some foxing and soil, ranging from very light to medium; the fox marks are light in color. Somebody once used the book to press flowers and there are still some bits of plant matter caught in the gutters, but the flower pressing does not seem to have left any horrifying stains. Early pages have bent corners. Weak binding. Size: 8vo - over 7 3/4 in - 9 3/4 in Tall. Year: 1882.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Benziger Brothers, 1882. Hardcover. Possibly an American First(NAP). Not sure. 169 pages. Two pages of ads. Translated from the French into English by the Lady Blanche Murphy. Frontispiece picture of Richard. A Very Rare book. Probably the only one for sale anywhere in collectible condition. I would rate the book Very Good Minus, or better taking into account its age. It has beautifully designed covers with a flawless inlaid silver design on red fabric that wraps around the spine, with the rest of the covers showing pretty white-yellow flowers on a soft silver surface (which has a few scratches). I'm Guessing this is not the original cover because it looks awfully good for its age. There is, however, significant wear (rubbing away of the silver to the exposed boards) at the top, middle, and bottom edges, with a little loss spilling over onto the front and back cover Edges. The book is well bound, tho there are a few opposite pages too tightly bound. There's a tiny tear at bottom of the title page, a signature on the FFEP, NO other writing, a few very minor spots/specks of soiling, No foxing, a little age darkening. Also, look at the Title page photo--the 'P' in Murphy is pretty much gone and the 'A' in A.C. Leclerc gets a D at best.
