In 1322, Sir John Mandeville left England to make a trip to Jerusalem. 34 years later he returned claiming to have visited not only Jerusalem but also India, China, Java, Sumatra and Borneo. His book of the travels fascinated all and sundry. It wasn't until the 19th century that sceptics started questioning whether he had ever even left England in the first place. Milton's excellent book sets out to discover whether Mandeville really could have undertaken his journey. This is the original first edition from 1996. A really excellent copy. Pages are bright and clean, almost as new. Cloth boards are excellent. Dust jacket is in first rate condition, unclipped and no more wear than the most minor shelf impact at the top.
