Seller: James M. Dourgarian, Bookman ABAA, Concord, CA, U.S.A.
First Edition
NY, Armed Services Editions, n.d. (1945), first edition , wrappers. Softcover. This is the very rare first issue of this paperback original with an aerial view of the "main floor" of a home on the verso of the title page, this generally unknown issue point is the result of a printer's error as this aerial room map actually belongs to ASE No. 827 (The Indigo Necklace by Frances Crane), this is No. 825 in this important series, designed to fit the pocket of a World War II American GI, issued by the Council on Books in Wartime, the Library of Congress includes only the usual, recorded state, while Carl Petersen may have had the scarcer first issue, it wasn't noted in the Serendipity catalogue of Petersen's personal Faulkner collection, see Petersen A22, this is one of the most difficult of all Faulkner "A" items, especially in this generally unrecorded first state. Reading crease, else very good plus.
Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 256 pages. First edition, first printing. Number 825. Eight short stories selected by Saxe Cummins. He also wrote the foreword. Issued as a paperback original by the Council on Books in World War II & designed to fit in the pocket of an American GI. The verso of the title page contains a floor plan for "The Indigo Necklace" by Frances Crane which was issued as #827 in these Armed Forces editions. This was a printer's error that was quickly corrected making this copy much more unique. Near fine book with the spine edges a touch rubbed. A beautiful copy!.
