The majority of the pavilions are well-detailed, and the Arnold photographs meticulously document the splendor of the Fair. Along with the immense Ferris Wheel which towered over the Exposition, there also are images of the Street in Cairo, Egyptian Wedding, Sudanese villagers, Egyptian belly-dancers, the Chinese theatre, and the Alaskan Kwakiutl Indians together with their totem polls and native dress. In sum, a sturdy, presentable copy of one of the more luxe view books of the noted fair. The Columbian Exposition was a significant advancement in a multitude of ways, its detractors were there at the get-go. Despite its influence on the development of the City Beautiful movement, Frank Lloyd Wright was immediately critical: "By this overwhelming rise of grandomania I was confirmed in my fear that a native architecture would be set back at least fifty years."Enthusiasm for the fair has not abated, as the popularity of The Devil in the White City attests.
