Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Wanda Gag (illustrator). 1st Edition. Coward McCann. New York. 1938. First edition; first printing. Book is tight and clean; no writing within. Binding and hinges are strong and sound. Pages are bright and tight. Decorative binding is bright and impeccably clean. The book itself would grade fine if not for shelf-rubbing on rear panel's bottom corner tip; with a touch at crown and heel. As for the original DJ it is not as beautiful as the book; but it remains highly desirable and most collectible. $1.00 price intact on DJ flap. DJ shows rubbing along the edges and folds; with a couple of small closed edge tears. There is a wrinkle to the top of the DJ on rear near header. Very light soiling on the front of the DJ. On a related note, in 1939 the Motion Picture Academy of America presented legendary filmmaker Walt Disney with an Honorary Oscar; but unlike traditional Oscar statuettes, this Oscar included 7 smaller dwarf-size Oscars flanking the normal-size statue on a stepped-down base, in recognition of Disney's iconic film adaptation and interpretation of the classic tale. As for author and artist Wanda Gag, two of her books were awarded Newbery Honors and two more awarded Caldecott Honors. Her timeless classic Millions of Cats is currently the oldest American picture book still in print. Offered here is Gag's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the elusive Coward-McCann imprint; which serves as the first American printing preceding the UK Faber & Faber printing. A highly collectible title in its rare original DJ with $1.00 price intact. A plum for any serious collector. VG++ /VG.
