Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First edition (stated). Fine; in a near fine dust jacket with minor creases. The pre-publication price on the front flap has been clipped leaving the published price of $52.00. George Katsutoshi Nakashima (1905-1990) was an American woodworker, architect, and furniture maker who was one of the leading innovators of 20th century furniture design and a father of the American craft movement. In this lavishly illustrated volume, George Nakashima allowed us an intimate look at his artistry, his philosophy, his life. It is the portrait of an artisan who strives to find the ideal use for each plank in order to "create an object of utility to man and, if nature smiles, an object of lasting beauty."
