Softcover. Condition: Very Good Plus. [FICTION]. Barnes, Djuna. "Spillway and Other Stories." New York: Harper and Row, 1972. English language. Softcover. 8 x 5.25 x 0.25 in. 20 x 14 x 1 cm. 4 oz. 107 pp. Front cover bows out. Price sticker on back cover. Price in pencil on half title. Pages yellowing. Text clean. Very Good Plus. ISBN: 9780060902827. "As anybody familiar with the singular artistic vision of Djuna Barnes is well aware, reading anything she wrote is like entering a type of parallel universeâ??one that resembles our own in many ways, but also one that is no longer able to repress and erase what is odd or sad or grotesque, particularly in regards to the human condition. Once one becomes familiar with Barnesâ??s baroque style and bleak worldview it is difficult to not immediately recognize her writing, which helps in being able to contextualize these stories with all of the other modes she expressed herself in.".

Hardcover/gebunden. Condition: gut. Erste Aufl./ Lizenzausgabe. Inhalt: Aller et retour / Löschung / La Grande Malade / Eine Nacht mit Pferden / Der Diener / Das Kaninchen / Die Ärzte / Kopfunter / Die Leidenschaft. Djuna Barnes (* 12. Juni 1892 in Cornwall on Hudson, New York; ? 18. Ab 1912 veröffentlichte sie regelmäßig in New Yorker Tageszeitungen. 1959 erschien ihr letztes Werk The Antiphon. (Wikipedia) In deutscher Sprache. 141, (3) pages. Klein 8° (123 x 184mm).

"A member of the Greenwich Village bohemian scene in the teens, Barnes moved to Paris in the period between the two wars and wrote poetry, plays and -- perhaps her most famous work -- the loosely structured novel, NIGHTWOOD.
