First edition. Very Good+ in Very Good Dust Jacket with original price ($8.95). Inscribed by the author at front pastedown: "For Jean -- Merry Christmas, Gwen Davis". A tipped in piece of stationary from dancer/singer /actress Marge Champion indicates that "Jean" is Jean McClatchy Bricker. Champion was the daughter of Hollywood dance teacher Ernest Belcher and model for Disney's Snow White and the Blue Fairy in Pinocchio. She was married to Gower Champion for many years and together they were the most popular movie dance team of the early 1950s. Bricker was a well-known San Francisco socialite and community activist, famous for her parties, her outfits and her stylish attention to detail. She was a director of the Opera Guild, and a trustee of the city's Maritime National Park Museum. The book is an interesting example of artistically-inspired design, with pages of various colors and unusual photographs and ironic textual commentary. Very San Francisco, very 1970's. A Classic. Bright green paper over boards with purple backstrip. Dust Jacket shows mild soiling & sunning, light edge wear. Darkening to endpapers; otherwise interior is clean & bright. Binding is tight. Unpaginated. Approx. 6" x 8.25". Carefully shipped in secure parcel. Ask all questions; glad to respond.
