Book First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. 62pp. Illus. in text. First published 1923 as 'Thirty-Seven Days of Peril'. In September 1870, Truman Everts was separated from one of the first exploratory parties in what is now Yellowstone National Park. With little food, equipment or cold-weather clothing, he spent more than a month wandering the wilderness before two mountaineers found him alive: frostbitten, scalded and delirious. Nobody else has been lost so long in Yellowstone and survived. A fantastic story using the original chronicle and augmented with new biographical and background information.

This is a fascinating read of what happened to Truman Everts when be became separated from the unit with whom he made the trip to Yellowstone. Evert is the only person known to have survived being lost in the Yellowstone mountains. He had joined the expedition with the intent of mapping the area and investigate the mysteries that surrounded (and still do to some extent) the mysteries of Yellowstone. He became separated from the party and later his horse abandoned him. For 37 days he wandered Yellowstone alone, injured and without food.
