Ten volume set of Hugo's works, the 'Esmeralda Edition DeLuxe'; comprised of Notre Dame, The Last Day of a Condemned, Les Miserables, Hans of Iceland, Toilers of the Sea, Bug-Jargal, The Man Who Laughs, Claude Gueux, Ninety-Three, Things Seen, History of a Crime, Napoleon the Little, Poems, Dramas, & Shakespeare, with a Life of Hugo by Frank T. Marzials; general introduction by Robert Louis Stevenson. Limited edition, limitation #223 of 1000 copies in each volume. Full red cloth, paper spine labels, two-color + gold title pages, gravure frontispiece in each volume. No date, but Worldcat gives the date of Bigelow's edition as 1907. Spines a bit faded, labels darkened, rubbed & chipped; edges show some wear; some corners bumped; bookplate of Charles Kirkland and Mabel Milham Roys on the front pastedown of each volume, with her signature and April 1908 on the flyleaf. Mrs. Roys travelled for the YWCA; she and her husband, a doctor, were missionaries in Shantung, China. Set. Bookseller Inventory # os297
