Softcover. Condition: Near fine. 1st. First MIT edition. Three volumes bound in the publishers original illustrated wraps with matching slipcase. Lightly rubbed at edges and extremities. Small closed tear on spine of volume three. "For the Voice" is 13 poems for reading out loud, with dynamic graphics by El Lissitzky meant to capture the ideas of the poems visually. Volume one is a facsimile of the 1923 Russian edition, taken from a copy of the British Library. Volume two is an English language translation by Peter France with Lissitzky's graphics visually translated by Martha Scotford. Volume three is a collection of essays by international scholars, with extracts of writings by Mayakovsky and Lissitzky.
