His better known novels/plays are "The Bridge of San Luis Rey", "The Ides of March", and "Our Town". "The Eighth Day", first published in 1967, is set in Coaltown, Illinois in 1902 with a trial for a murder, a conviction and a later escape. It portrays life in the early 20th century on America. The book is clean, tight, solid. Bound in navy cloth spine, blue cloth boards; light wear to corners; spine head and heel compressed. Gilt design and lettering on spine, sharp and bright. Very clean.
