About this Item
DESCRIPTION: James W. Foley (1874 - 1939) was regarded as the unoffical poet Laureate of North Dakota. He wrote a "North Dakota Hymn and is best known for his poem, "A Letter Home." He also worked for the Bismarck Tribune as a journalist. * * * Here is an offering of three beautifully boxed illustrated unpaginated books by James W. Foley. This set of three boxed books would make a fantastic gift for someone who loves poetry. * (# 1) " Hello" Published by the P. F. Volland Company in 1915 with 6 uncut double pages. A previous owner's name is just inside the front cover flap. (# 2) " The Golden Hour" Published by the P. F. Volland Company in 1915 with 6 uncut double pages. (# 3) "Some One Like You" Published by the P. F. Volland Company in 1916 with 6 uncut double pages. * Each of the three books and their individual boxes are decorated with floral or bird designs. The title of each book is done in copper that glued to the cover. * Each book measures about 6 1/8 inches by 5 1/8 inches. * CONDITION: The three boxes have done their job of protecting these beautiful keepsakes. Each of the three books are in better than average condition. * Each of the boxes show wear along the edges and corners. each of the three boxes have a tear on one or more sides. I would say that the overall condition of the boxes is good or better. The previous owner had collected these book over many years and he really took good care of them. Seller Inventory # 1492
