1 vol. in-8 ((21 x 14 cm), (6), IV, 157, (1) pp., broché, couverture illustrée, envoi autographe signé de l'auteur au Pr. René Stoppa, très bon état. Première et seule édition, rare. Cet ouvrage, constitué de 14 chapitres, est à la fois instructif et plaisant à lire. Il est bien documenté, avec des notes en fin de chapitre et une bibliographie in fine. Comme l'indique son auteur, ce petit ouvrage vise avant tout à "aiguiser la curiosité des lecteurs", qui trouveront ici "quelques réflexions illustrées d'anecdotes". Régis Olry, qui étudia la médecine en France (à Nancy) et fut assisant d'anatomie en Allemagne (à Heidelberg, auprès de Gunther von Hagens), est professeur d'anatomie au Canada (Université du Québec). Cet ouvrage fut analysé par P. Delaveau (Histoire des Sciences Médicales, 1998, p. 89) : "Au cours de ses lectures bibliographiques et historiques, l'auteur s'est plu à relever divers faits signalés jadis au sujet d'affaires médicales et anatomiques, à caractère parfois surprenant, souvent piquant. Elles sont rapportées avec humour et montrent que nos aïeux se sont parfois trouvés devant des situations embarrassantes que, faute de moyens expérimentaux plus évolués, ils ne pouvaient analyser que par le raisonnement. On commence par une affaire de géant en France, sous le règne de Louis XIII, affaire qui mit aux prises Jean Riolan et Nicolas Habicot . C?est l'intérêt porté à l'étude post-mortem du crâne de maint homme célèbre avec les tentatives de généralisation des conceptions qui ont conduit à la phrénologie de Frantz Joseph Gall, théorie qui avait séduit Honoré de Balzac. Avec 'A chacun son métier', nous sommes transportés à Carcassonne et mis en face des difficultés rencontrées du temps des frères Estienne pour l'édition des livres d'anatomie - l'illustration était déjà un des aspects les plus délicats de l'entreprise. Diverses autres aventures permettent au lecteur de retrouver Vésale, Paré, Rohrschacht, Cloquet, Cruveilhier? dans des circonstances parfois piquantes et toujours riches de données précises (chaque chapitre comporte une bibliographie propre).".
