About this Item
Very Good; see scans and description. Des Moines, IA: Time Inc. Home Entertainment, 2000. "Life - Our Finest Hour. Voices of the World War II Generation", edited by Killian Jordan. Thick quarto, illustrated perfect-bound wraps, 128 pp. One of what was apparently several variant covers for this edition. Very Good; sporadic moderate crinkle from long ago humidity (no dampstaining, however). Not too far from Near Fine, but, technically, Very Good. See all scans. A rich collection of primarily black and white period photographs of very human World War II scenes, with knowledgeable and engaging text. The overall aspect and feel is very moving, exactly as the editors intended. Ships in a new, sturdy, protective box - not a bag. LMilit. Seller Inventory # 61889

About this title
This selection of photographs and extended captions from the pages of Life and other contemporary publications gathers images that have become part of American iconography (such as the Associated Press's famed photograph of the Fighting Sullivans). More usefully, it also includes lesser-known work documenting injustices done to Japanese Americans and African Americans, the sufferings of the wounded, and the loneliness of separation, material overlooked by many other photographic histories of the war. --Gregory McNamee
