Synopsis: From his grandmother's cluttered sitting room, Edward Hollis launches into an intriguing survey of interiors including a cave, a Roman villa and the palace of Versailles, the Big Brother House and the digital rooms of the computer game Quake. Inspired by Mario Praz's approach to the interior as 'A museum of the Soul, an archive of its experiences', Hollis tells the story of how interiors are made - from architecture to ashtrays - and how people have made themselves at home in them. Embossed cover.
