Lewis). Fine in Fine- Dust Jacket. Text Block is clean, white, tight, straight and square, with no markings of any kind. Binding is full red cloth (uniform throughout) with bright gilt title, etc., to spine, and corners square but not sharp. Dust Jacket is intact showing some fading of color to the spine, with minor wear at edges and original price (12/6) intact on front flap. 168 pages. 5" x 7 3/8". Edited by D. S. Brewer and presented in the original Middle English, the text includes a substantial Introduction, Bibliography, Notes, Appendix, and Glossary. The poem, written around 1370, describes a gathering of birds in early spring, on St. Valentines Day, to choose their mates for the year, and may be the origin of current traditions.
