"El Mahasna. after a cursory examination, we found that the place had been badly plundered, yet we decided to ask the Government for permission to, at least, test the ground. We knew that we should not have the time at our disposal to open every grave, plundered and unplundered, but we hoped to save the unplundered graves." (Excerpts from introduction, Petrie). Sepia-toned and b/w photographs of excavation site and artifacts, and line drawings of pottery. It is exquisitely illustrated with a total of 38 b/w plates, plans and charts. Publications of Egypt Exploration Fund advertised at inside back cover. Binding with library barcode and sticker, library bookplate on inside front, library pocket and numeric stamp on inside back cover. Some wear with small chips at corners and along edges and rubbed. Three additional library stamps on verso of title page, page one and verso of last plate, plus library stamps at top and bottom of edges.
