About this Item
A smart first edition of this detective novel by John Rhode, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. The first edition, first impression of the work. In the original unclipped dust wrapper. The sixteenth work in the author's long-running series of novels featuring Lancelot Priestley, a Golden Age armchair detective. The novel concerns the poisoning of an elderly man names Venner by Strychnine, and the subsequent disappearance of his nephew, and has been described as a sequel to his previous book 'The Claverton Mystery'. In the publisher's maroon cloth binding in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally smart with fading to the head and tail of the spine. Dust wrapper is sound with occasional chipping and closed tears, particularly to the head of the spine. Marks to the rear of the wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages and the fore edge. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 851K12
