About this Item
The Yorktown Campaign and the Surrender of Cornwallis 1781 by Henry P. Johnston. 206pp. 8vo. 21 illustrations and 6 maps. Publishing date states 1881 but I believe this to be a 1922 reprint. This is a presentation copy for the Comte de Grasse Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution - this Chapter was founded in 1992. This book was subsequently presented to Arthur Pierce Middleton for a talk he gave to the DAR regarding the Comte de Grasse in 1947. The book has been inscribed on the front free end paper 'Arthur Pierce Middleton at Yorktown, Virginia. Sept 1947. A gift from the Comte de Grasse Chapter of the DAR for addressing them on the subject of Comte de Grasse'. This book is in very good condition. The blue boards have very minor bumping to the edges and corners. The corners are also slightly rubbed. The spine has been lightly sunned and the spine head and tail edges are curled and slightly worn. There is a possible damp mark to the back board bottom adjacent to the spine of about 5cm x 1 cm. The pages have yellowed with age. The end papers are tanned. The binding is tight. There is no dust jacket. Seller Inventory # 265
