Holograph signed letter, one sheet, folded, 8 x 5 inches when folded, letterhead of 62 Paternoster Row, London, E.C., dated Feb. 15, 1897, addressed to Dodd, Mead & Co. regarding financial details of Dodd, Mead purchasing facsimile copies of Walton's 'Compleat Angler' for distribution in the US. Approximately 170 words written on two sides of the sheet. Letter has been additionally folded and has a date stamp of Mar 1 1897, presumed to be the date of receipt by Dodd, Mead. Accompanied by typed letter on thin tissue, 11 x 8.5 inches unfolded, signed 'Dodd, Mead & Co.' dated Feb. 5, 1897, addressed to Eliot Stock, Esq. offering to purchase Walton's 'Angler' and setting out proposed terms. Elliott Stock (1836-1911) was an English publisher and bibliophile who owned the publishing company that bore his name from 1859 until his death. In 1877 he published the facsimile edition of Walton's 'Compleat Angler.'. Seller Inventory # 266252
