IF1 This is a beautiful modern specialist postcard of a painting of female mathematicians (or women "computers" who were bought into the Langley Memorial Aeronautical Laboratory in 1935 as a means to free the (white male) engineers from calculating by hand. African American Female "Human Calculators" and "Human Computers" were not hired until the 1940s and this postcard details all the history and how they were fundamental to wartime aircrafts and the space race and is unused and mint.
