Single title leaf in front fully describing this project. U.S. servicemen, city scenes, transportation, beggars, brothel, opium den, etc. Each of the 60 photos is covered by white tissue paper to protect these important historical documents IMPORTANT NOTE: This fantastic collectible comes from the estate of Johnny Fox (1953-2017) who was a colorful Barnum-esque circus and side-show performer. Book Description 60 loose photos fitted by corners into photo album pages with printed captions on mounts, oblong 10 x 13, brad bound cloth covers, 60 photo leaves plus introduction page (Introduction by M. Charles Preston), mounting pages stained throughout at forecorners, pp yellowed, but photos nice. Waddel was chief photographer for the Houston Press before joining the army; he was chief photographer for Mountbatten. Photos show both the squalor and majesty of Calcutta, with many of them showing US Servicemen; captions give advice to servicemen about beggars, salesmen and even prostitutes. Scarce item.
