A lovely example of this quite hard-to-find survey-to-date of Keith Haring's work, this copy boasts a full-page magic marker drawing on verso of front cover with an inscription made to the late Peter Schjeldahl (1942-2022), poet and New Yorker art critic. We know next to nothing about the relationship of the artist to the critic, but long after Haring's death Schjeldahl would call him a "one-lad advertising firm for sex and fun" and note the influence of 16th Century Mixtec art on Haring's own. [Left unmentioned is Haring;'s death at 32 from AIDS]. The present copy is in overall excellent condition but, having survived the tragic 2019 fire at Schjeldahl's Saint Mark's Place flat it is just noticeably tinged with smoke. Elsewhere there is a little edge-wear, and some discoloration to the rear cover. The drawing shows only a few tiny white spots in the marker areas. Condition is remarkable for a forty-plus year old catalogue. Further information and images upon request. Seller Inventory # 2398
