About this Item
311 pp. A near fine, tight, sharp cornered copy with minimal shelf rubbing to its lower edge, in a very good clipped dust jacket with a sun faded spine and chipping as photographed. First edition with Rinehart colophon on copyright page. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR and warmly inscribed to his life long friend John Gilchriese. This is perhaps the author's best and best-known book, in which he shows remarkable insight into the psychology of the modern Native American, caught between the conflicting cultures of Caucasian and Indian society. It is without a doubt a classic novel of the American West. This copy comes from the library of Earp/Tombstone historian John D. Gilchriese a life long friend of Frank Waters.
