500pp. color frontispiece. Dark Blue Cloth with very atttractive ship vignette with gilt background and lettering. Map endpapers, Over 250 black and white photos. A an inscribed and signed in blue ink presentation card is laid in, "With the regards and best wishes of Gifford Pinchot". There is loss of fabric on the edge of the front panel, light offsetting to the front free endpaper, otherwise a near fine, unmarked copy. The unclipped pictorial jacket (has original price of $3.50 on the front flap) has closed tears along the upper edge, and heals well in mylar sleeve. The Pinchot South Sea Expedition was a 1929 zoological expedition to the Caribbean and South Pacific led and financed by Gifford Pinchot. The expedition departed from New York City on 31 March 1929 aboard the Pinchots' yacht Mary Pinchot. Gifford Pinchot organized, financed, and led the expedition, which collected zoological specimens (and a few botanical specimens) for the U.S. National Museum of Natural History". Size: Thick 8vo.
