اكتشفتُ الليلة أن كل فرد من عائلتي قد قَتل مرَّة على الأقل! وقفت خلف جدتي وهي تفتح باب الغرفة لأجد جثة هذا الوغد عارية. بالطبع لم أشك في قاتل غير جدتي! ليس لأنها الوحيدة في بيتنا التي تملك سلاحًا احترفت استعماله منذ أيام شبابها، وليس لأننا نعلم أنها قتلت زوجها السابق، بل لأنها فور أن رأت الجثة، ربتت على ظهري وقابلت نظراتي المرتاعة بابتسامة حنون وكأنها تقول لي جثة هذا الوغد هي هدية تفوقك في الثانوية العامة. اسعَد يا عيسى!. لم أسعد، فقد أوصيتهم ألا يقتلوه بدوني، فلا يجوز أن يُطلق غيري الرصاص عليه، لكن يبدو أنهم استغلوا غيابي في قسم قصر النيل ليمارسوا العادة الأقرب إلى قلوبهم؛ تجاهل رغباتي. وددتُ أن أعاتب جدتي لأنها خرقت قواعدها لقتل الأوغاد، لكن نظرات هذا الضابط الذي يقف خلفنا وفي يده ليمونة منعتني من الكلام...

وُلدت ميرنا المهدي في حي المعادي بالقاهرة، وتخرجت في مدرسة ليسيه الحرية في المعادي، ثم في كلية الألسن جامعة عين شمس. تخصصت في أدب وترجمة اللغتين الفرنسية والإسبانية. حازت عدة جوائز أدبية من سفارتي كندا وفرنسا والمركز الثقافي الفرنسي، لتركِّز بعدها في كتابة أدب الإثارة والتشويق، فنشر لها عدة روايات، من أهمها سلسلة تحقيقات نوح الألفي التي صدر منها قضية ست الحسن وقضية لوز مُر.
