1001 Questions and Answers

Providing interesting facts about nature, science and technology, history, and the surrounding world, a treasury of tidbits is accompanied by discovery quizzes, colorful picture puzzles, and general knowledge tests.

Grade 5-9-Covering the natural world, science and invention, history, and sports and leisure, this book features two-page spreads on specific topics, e.g., prehistoric life, the human body, ancient Greece, the Wild West, soccer, and music. Questions are numbered and placed around full-color photographs scattered on the pages; answers appear in the back of the book. A fairly comprehensive index is included. The photos are striking, but it is sometimes difficult to find the corresponding question. The answer section is crowded, with three columns of small print squeezed on each page. This volume is strictly for browsing; its purpose almost seems to send readers to one of the "Eyewitness" books (Knopf).?Peg Glisson, Dewitt Road School, Webster, NY
