Grade 4-7-A brief overview of the many disciplines of science. Without the benefit of a table of contents, the countdown begins immediately with chemistry facts. The author then progresses rapidly through the basic areas of physics, the earth-science groups, biology, and on to technology. A "Brief Bio" section highlights famous people in their fields. The index lists subjects with a number listed beside them. Readers won't readily know if the number refers to a page or the topic. Additional fun facts are frequently included in shaded boxes. Small pen-and-ink sketches enhance the presentation. This book will best be used for informative pleasure reading rather than for reports or science-fair projects.
