The French Riviera is known as the land of the beautiful people, both famous and infamous. The iconic harbor of Saint-Tropez and the Promenade d'Anglais have been photographed a thousand times. Yet beyond the camera frame is the seldom seen side of the glamorous Côte d'Azur: bizarre villas, hidden gardens, Buddhist pagodas, Tibetan villages, cloister castles, and much more. In this unusual guide book, you'll discover which mansion on Cap Ferrari was "tattooed" by Jean Cocteau; where to buy umbrellas in Nice; how to find the house in which Heinrich Mann lived while in exile; where you can visit the self-designed graves of Jean Marais and Le Corbusier; and where the Allied landing on the Mediterranean coast took place. 111 Places introduces you to an electic selection of thrilling places that will surprise even Côte d'Azur connoisseurs and locals.
