Before I stepped into this role, I thought dementia was just extreme forgetfulness. I had no idea it could bring about such a change of personality, including angry outbursts, irrational fears, and impossible demands. I was thoroughly unprepared and ill-equipped. So, I wrote the book I wish I had when I faced this ordeal. Here, I share what I learned as caregiver and decision-maker and what in-home hospice does and does not provide. Your situation will be different from mine, but caregiving has more commonalities than you might think, and knowing you are not alone, you are not crazy, and that God has not left your side can bring comfort.
