Louis Panesi was tortured verbally by his abusive father and grandfather for years until they kicked him out of the house. He suffered from a bleeding back that no dermatologist could cure. Finally, he was referred to Dr. Robert J. Shoemaker, a Freudian psychoanalyst. This book is a firsthand account of what Dr. Shoemaker said to Panesi over a span of eight years to transform him from a homeless teen into an airline pilot. Panesi holds nothing back and retells the shocking conversations between them in exacting detail. This fast-paced book will keep you spellbound as Dr. Shoemaker teaches Panesi about life, success, and love. Open the door to Dr. Shoemaker's office . . .

From the Publisher
"The ability of a dermatologist to recognize a skin condition as being more than `skin deep' is an important lesson for all doctors. A very well-written book that will reach for your soul."- James Seward, M.D., Dermatologist
"A realistic account of what it is like growing up in an emotionally abusive family. The author's description of the therapeutic process he experienced is very realistic also." - Jill Eilenberger, LCSW, LMFT, Psychotherapist
"If you read the first two pages of Lou's book, you have to finish it. It is impossible to put down." - Joey Martin, Radio Host, CIBU Radio, Toronto, Canada (Interviewed Panesi in 2007.)
"For a period of several years Panesi visited Dr. Shoemaker and his recounting of his sessions with the good doctor is a fascinating read. In fact, without having any formal training as a writer, Panesi understands more of the importance of economy of language and maintaining a good pace than many an experienced author." - Norm Goldman, "Top 500 Reviewer" Amazon.com, Editor & Publisher of Bookpleasures
