Mitchell, 1795. 247 p + Contents. Full leather binding measures 5.75 x 3.5\u0094, 18mo. ***Included with purchase is a custom card stock clam-shell case for protection and preservation. In fair condition. Custom card stock case normally scuffed at edges and corners with some soiling, but overall intact. Front board of book DETACHED FROM BINDING; rear board attached via cording only. Boards scuffed at edges and worn\/bumped at corners. Head and tail of spine lacking with exposed binding; title label chipped at front hinge & illegible. Ex-library manuscript sticker at tail of spine. Ex-library blind stamps found on bottom corners through text-block. Normal toning and age-staining through text-block; sporadic water or tea dampness staining causing foxing. Pages 111-130 (one signature) attached via one piece of cording only & scuffed at fore-edges. FRONT BOARD DETACHED. Please see photos and ask questions, if any, before purchasing. Samuel Jackson Pratt (1749 \u0096 1814) was a prolific English poet, dramatist and novelist, writing under the pseudonym of \"Courtney Melmoth\" as well as under his own name. He authored around 40 publications between 1770 and 1810, some of which are still published today, and is probably best remembered as the author of Emma Corbett: or the Miseries of Civil War, (1780) and the poem Sympathy (1788). Although his reputation was tainted by scandal during his lifetime, he is today recognized as an early campaigner for animal welfare and the first English writer to treat the American Revolution as a legitimate subject for literature. Timothy Dwight IV (1752-1817) a Congregationalist minister and theologian who served as the eighth president of Yale from 1795 until his death. First published in London 1777.
