Beautiful 1838 reprint of the historic 1535 Miles Coverdale translation of The Holy Scriptures, one of the earliest complete printed English Bibles. This volume has been rebound in an attractive black leather-like cover with bright gold gilt lettering on the spine, giving it an elegant presentation while protecting the text beautifully over the years. NOT THE RECENT BROWN LEATHER REPRINTS FROM INDIA!
The cover and spine are in remarkable condition with virtually no visible wear or age. Interior pages remain tightly bound and highly presentable. There is scattered foxing consistent with age, primarily concentrated on the front and rear endpapers. Features an excellent frontispiece portrait of Miles Coverdale. A previous owner signature dated 1936 appears on the front endpapers, adding to the books historical character and provenance.
An impressive early 19th century biblical and historical volume that displays wonderfully and would make an excellent addition to any antique theology, religion, or early English Bible collection.
