There are thirty-two 8 x 10 photographs in this 13" x 10.25" photo album from a trip to a banana plantation in Costa Rico in the early part of the 20th century. Most of the photos are sepia with a few in black-and-white, one per leaf within a very well-preserved photo album. There are 50 leaves/100 pages, gray paper, all pages present with no chipping or tears, slight bumping on upper right. A few pages are unused and the last five photos are not from Costa Rica. Several photos have blind stamps for Hans Wimmer s studio in Limon, Costa Rica. The compiler of the album travels around the country, partially by train. There are photos of workers cutting plants and loading fruit onto trains. There are also shots of San Jose and Limon and two pics of a baseball team on November 26, 1905, captioned "Bocas del Toro vs Port Limon. A few photos have small, closed tears, mostly along the top edge, and minor creases at the edges. A few pages are unused and the last five photos are a departure from Costa Rica and feature a large montage of women s faces and three methods of plowing from around the world, by camel, elephant and big horned ox. The album remains in very good condition.
